Antique Shoe Shine Box

Description

This is an original, hand made shoe shine box made by an inmate, William Burlinghhame, at the Rhode Island State Prison in February, 1883.  Paper identification is on the bottom of the unit.  There is a crack in the wood at the back of the box as shown in the picture; the fabric covering is well worn, as shown.  Taking into account that the unit is 133 years old, pretty good overall condition.   There has not been any refinishing.
Dimensions as follows:
Lid - width 16 3/8", depth 15 1/2", height with legs 21" (legs are 5 5/8" long)
Box - width 14 3/8", depth 3 1/2", height with legs 18"
I have described the item as best I can.  Due to varying lighting and camera used, the colors may not be exactly as pictured.  If you need additional information, please ask before bidding.
Return Policy: Returns will be accepted only if it is determined that the item is not as described; no returns based on incorrect sizing or coloring (examples: parts, jewelry or clothing).  It is the Buyer’s responsibility to determine parts compatibility.  Buyer must contact us within three days of receipt of item to discuss return and request an RMA number.  The item must be returned, insured, to seller in specified time (14 days from receiving item) in same condition as shipped with no changes or modifications including all accessories.   Buyer to pay return shipping costs and refund will be for the auction price only.
Arrangements for payment and shipping instructions due within 3 days of auction end.  Shipping via USPS is for the continental United States only and will be shipped using Standard Mail, insurance and/or delivery confirmation are included in the flat rate charges.  Item will be shipped to buyer only, no third party shipping.  Shipping to other areas will be determined by location.
