Description
– Here is a Hugo Leven Designed RARE and FINE 1905 KAYSERZINN WATERING CAN with LONG SPOUT – created in the heart of the Art Nouveau movement and totally designed in that manner with snail topped lid, swimming fish and plant like details on the handle and graceful spout. This is arguably the most sought after piece from Kayserzinn – it was designed by Hugo Leven and first exhibited at the 1900 World’s Fair. The watering can measures 12” lengthwise and 9” high – there are no breaks or repairs – out of an estate where it had been stored for generations. The design elements are great including a full-bodied snail atop the hinged lid and swimming fish on both sides. The bottom is signed and numbered 4205. This rare watering can needs cleaned and conserved – there are many suggestions on cleaning pewter but I wouldn’t dare attempt it. The lower part near the base and the bottom has a white deposit on the surface - also there is some random peeling here and there but not bad. The missing small sprinkler head which would screw on to the spout is almost always missing when these cans are seen – I have noticed offers of 150 for these little attachments alone. A very scarce and important piece of Art Nouveau pewter from Kayserzinn. – buyer pays 21.95 safe bubble shipping, Insurance and tracking EAST of the Mississippi - ***NOTE*** shipping is 29.95 WEST of the MississippiMore than just a pretty picture.
